Episode #190: Planning a Kid Free Adventure

Planning a trip to Disney World is always an adventure, but planning a trip without the kids opens a whole new world of possibilities. As avid Disney enthusiasts, we decided it was time for a weekend getaway just for the two of us—an opportunity to reconnect and relish the magic of Disney without the hustle of managing kids’ needs. In this post, we'll delve into our planned itinerary, showcasing how we intend to navigate Disney World like true Disney adults.

First and foremost, let’s talk about the excitements that come with stepping into the world of Disney merchandise. This trip kicked off with some thrilling news about a Disney princess collection available at Bath & Body Works. With products themed after beloved princesses like Ariel and Belle, it's a great way to indulge our inner Disney fans even before we arrive at the park.

Upon our arrival early Friday morning, we plan to head straight to the Port Orleans French Quarter resort to drop our bags off. Although it’s a theme we don’t typically embrace, this trip holds a unique opportunity to explore somewhere new without the constraints of having the kids' preferences to consider. The French Quarter provides a quaint and laid-back atmosphere that we hope will be a perfect setting for our weekend escape.

After setting our bags down, we’ll catch a bus to Animal Kingdom, our park of choice for the day. We're thrilled to start our trip with lunch at Flame Tree Barbecue, known for its delicious food nestled within a scenic view of the iconic Expedition Everest. During previous visits, we've made memories at this location, and we expect nothing less this time around.

After filling up on barbecue, our adventure continues with a leisurely stroll through DinoLand and a captivating experience on the Dinosaur ride. As enthusiasts of Disney’s attention to detail, we’re especially looking forward to exploring the iconic queue of Expedition Everest—a place where one can immerse themselves in its breathtaking design. The real stories and artifacts showcased in its queue are guaranteed to transport us directly to the foot of the majestic mountain.

We can't wait to see the newest addition at the Animal Kingdom—the baby tiger! Known for captivating viewers with its playful antics, the tiger has become a sensation among visitors, and we hope to view it before it gets too crowded. Our experience wouldn’t be complete without a classic safari ride, providing another opportunity to embrace the wildlife and beauty of Animal Kingdom.

As the day comes to an end, we're excited to unwind and refuel at the Nomad Lounge, known for its signature churros. With our taste buds ignited, we’ll opt for a delicious dinner reservation at the renowned Jiko, where culinary creativity meets exemplary African flavors. The seared venison loin has particularly caught our attention, and we’re eager to enhance our dining experience with rich conversations about our adventures throughout the day.

The following day promises even more excitement with our full day at Epcot, where we’ll focus on soaking in all its artistic offerings during the Festival of the Arts. We plan on being leisurely about our exploration, stopping at various attractions without the urgency that often accompanies family visits. The World Showcase will tempt us with its unique flavors, and by indulging in different foods and drinks around the world, we’ll savor the experience of absorbing cultures without any rush.

As the sun sets over Epcot, we’ll conclude our evening with a visit to the Journey of Water experience—an enchanting walk with stunning scenery that is best appreciated after dark. We’ll reflect on our breathtaking experiences, marveling at how this quick trip, meant for relaxation and enjoyment, fosters a deeper connection and appreciation for one another.

Finally, we’ll cap off our trip with another delicious meal at Satouli Canteen, trying their famous cheeseburger pods which have become a staple of Disney dining. Sharing laughs, stories, and future plans over tasty food is what it’s all about. This kidless trip allows us to embrace the magic of Disney as adults, unlocking moments that simply feel more special when we can focus solely on each other.

We are looking forward to capturing precious moments through Instagram stories and live dining reviews during our trip. We cannot wait to share our experiences with listeners after returning—so join us on this journey of fun and relaxation!
